No.21/07/2015-5L/174 Whereas to enable the employees working in the Shops and Commercial Establishments situated adjoining area with State of Rajasthan, the voters of Rajasthan working in the adjoining area of State of Punjab may be allowed paid holiday on the day of poll i.e. 07-12-2018, So that the voter of Rajasthan State working in the adjoining area of Punjab State can able to cast their votes, it is considered in the public interest to declare 7th December,2018 as a paid holiday within the revenue jurisdiction of the districts adjoining to the area of Rajasthan State.
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by second proviso to subsection (1) of Section 10 of the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958(Punjab Act No. 15 of 1958) and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, the Governor of Punjab is pleased to fix Friday, falling on 7th December,2018 to be a ‘closed day’ for the employees working in Shops and Commercial Establishments in the revenue jurisdiction of the districts adjoining to the area of Rajasthan. However, 07th December,2018 (Friday) shall not be a ‘closed day’ in lieu of weekly off falling between 09th December, 2018 and 15th December, 2018 on account of the General Elections to Rajasthan State Legislative Assembly.
