Grant of family pension to department parents of the Government employees

All Deputy Commissioners in the State.

Subject: Grant of family pension to department parents of the Government employees.

I am directed to invite a reference for Rule 6.17(3)(c) of Punjab Civil Services Rules Volume II which interalia provides that parents who were wholly dependent on the Government employee, when he/she alive are eligible for family pension provided the deceased employee had left behind neither a widow nor a child.

2. As per Rules 6.17(4) of Punjab Civil Services Rules Vol. II, the family pension is admission to the widow or widower of the deceased Government employee up to date of death or remarriage whichever is earlier.

3. It has been decided that in case where the widow/widower of the Government employee who was granted family pension but later on got remarried and became ineligible to get the family pension as per rules and the deceased employee had also not left behind any child, the parents who were wholly department on the Government employee, when he/she was alive would be entitled to get the family pension.

5. The other provisions of family pension scheme shall be applicabe.

6. Amendment of the relevant Rule will be made in due course.

    Really a good decision by the pb. govt .It will help the helpless old age parents of the deceased employee who have lost their family member , the son

    My son died by leaving 1 wife 2 daughter 1 son at age below 9 yrs and advise me if after my death my grandson can have benefit of my pension

    I and my wife both was Govt. Employ I was irrigation and she was pb. Education dep. We were both drawing pension, she was died her pension I drawing since her death, but now her pension has been stoped since 12/19 to 30/06/20.reasion not sumitted her life certificate whereas my pension has been credited to my account. What should do I?

    In an unfortunate event of death of my father in law (retired teacher of Private Aided School, Nakodar (Punjab)) few days back, survived by 2 unmarried & dependent/unemployed daughters, I’m trying to find any references for family pension grant for unmarried & dependent/unemployed daughters.

    Mother also expired 6months back and now daughters are left to fate.

    Anyone, please assist with references to Family pension scheme for dependent daughters.

    Punjab Government has accepted recommendations of 7th pay commission wherein pension to widowed daughter was also accepted. Any new notifications in this regard issued by Punjab Government.

    Whether a widowed daughter-in-law is entitled for family pension if the father in law who is a pensioner dies without leaving any other family pension eligible for grant of family pension.
