Regarding Punjab Electricity (Duty) Act

NOTIFICATION

The 11th July, 2016

No. S.O. 54/P.A.9/2005/S.12/2016.– In super-session of the Government of Punjab, Department of Power, Notification No.11/78/2004-PE(4)/3379-84 dated the 1st September, 2016, and in exercise of the powers conferred by section 12 of the Punjab Electricity (Duty) Act, 2005 (Punjab Act No. 9 of 2005), and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, the Governor of Punjab is pleased to grant exemption at the rate of five percent from the payment of Electricity Duty, for a period of five years commencing on and with effect from the 1st day of August, 2007 to M/s Steel Strip Wheels Limited, for expansion (from 24,00,000 to 63,00,000 Wheel Rims per annum) of their existing plant at Village Somalheri/Laheli, Post Office Dappar, Tehsil Dera Bassi, District Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, (Mohali), subject, however, to the conditions that-

  1. In the event of any change in the rate of Electricity Duty from the existing rate, the aforesaid exemption shall restrict to the rate specified above;
  2. The above unit, shall be eligible for the said exemption from payment of said duty on the basis of increase from average consumption of electricity during one year instead of percentage increase in production. Any amount paid in excess, during this period shall be adjusted against the future electricity bills and no refund shall be given to the company; and
  3. No exemption shall be given on captive generation power sold to other consumers
