Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Minority Students -2018-19

Last Date- 30th Sep., 2018 (For Fresh & Renewal students)

Proposals are invited from the Government/recognized/private schools/institutions affiliated with PSEB, CBSE, ICSE for providing scholarships to the minority communities (Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Parsis & Jains) students studying in 1st to 10th classes under Pre-Matric Scholarship scheme. Students of classes 1st to 10th will apply online in the National Scholarship Portal of the Government of India, under URL: www.scholarships.gov.in. No offline application will be accepted. This scheme is being implemented as 100% Central Sponsored scheme.

Eligibility conditions to apply:-

a) Student who have secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination.

b) Annual income from all sources of the students’ parents or guardian should not exceed Rs. One Lac.

c) Student obtaining benefits under this scheme will not be allowed to avail of any other benefit under any other scheme for pursuing the same course.

d) Scholarship will not be given to more than two students in a family.

e) Parent/Guardian and the student should be domicile of Punjab State.

f) Student should be regular in attendance.

Rate of Scholarship:-

3. Maintenance allowance will be payable for a period not exceeding 10 months in an academic year
1) Classes 1st to 5th Nil Rs. 100/- per month
ii) Classes 6th to 10th Rs. 600/- per month subject to actuals Rs. 100/- per month

All the particulars regarding eligibility of the student will be verified & certified by the Head of the concerned School/Institution. They will also certify that each eligible student (as per norms of the scheme) of their school has been included in the demand and no eligible student has been left out.

TimeLine (for Fresh & Renewal Scholarship):-

Last date for submission of online applications for fresh and for renewal students is 30th September, 2018.

How to Apply

(a) The eligible students can apply online on the website scholarships.gov.in. Students will forward their applications online to the institution and will take a print out of the same. This print out along-with all requisite documents (as prescribed in the print out) will be submitted to the concerned institution. Student will get a permanent ID, which he/she will retain/ keep with him/her for any further correspondence etc.

(b) The Schools/institutions are advised to register themselves and their courses details on the NSP by 15th August, 2018 so that there students can apply and they can verify such application on the portal without any delay. Institutes will scrutinize & forward all these applications online by login on the same website with User IDs and Passwords (provided to them earlier by Welfare Department). It is also requested to ail institutions that don’t disclose user id and password to anyone.

Note:-

i)The scholarship scheme is an individual beneficiary oriented scheme being implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs and the whole scholarship is disbursed to the beneficiary under Direct Benifit Transfer (DBT) mode. In this regard, it is stated that the linkage of beneficiary’s identification with UID/Adhaar No. is presently not mandatory. However, as the Gazette Notification under Section-7 of Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benifits an Services) Act, 2016 (18 of 2016) (with respect to this scheme) has been notified (a copy of Gazette Notification-S.0.1284 (E) (No.1137) dated 21.04.2017. It will be necessary for the eligible applicants to provide Aadhaar No. while applying for the Scholarship and in case, an individual does not possess Aadhaar one can provide the details of alternative identification documents. Bank Account of the student till the age of 18 years may be joint account with their parents/guardian. The scholarship amount to students will be disbursed directly to beneficiaries’ bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode by GOI.

ii) Demand/Applications received directly from the students/parents/institutions will not be entertained at all and will be rejected automatically.

iii) Students/Institutes are advised to read the “FAQ’s and Information For Institutes” available on the home-page of the website carefully before filling online applications and scrutiny by the institutes.

iv) Institutes will retain online applications hard copies with necessary documents of students at their own level and forward online applications to Welfare Department on National Scholarship Portal.

v) No manual application will be entertained.
