No.21/07/2015-5L/1464376 Whereas to enable the workmen working in the factories situated adjoining area with the State of Jammu and Kashmir, the voters of Jammu and Kashmir working in the adjoining area of the State of Punjab may be allowed paid holiday on the day of poll i.e. 18-04-2019, So that the voter of Jammu and Kashmir State working in the adjoining area of Punjab State can able to cast their votes, it is considered the public interest to declare 18th April, 2019 as a paid holiday within the revenue jurisdiction of the districts adjoining to the area of Jammu and Kashmir State.
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 65 of the Factories Act, 1948 (Central Act LXIII of 1948) and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, the Governor of Punjab is pleased to fix Thursday, falling on 18th April, 2019 to be a ‘closed day’ for the employees working in factories in the revenue jurisdiction of the districts adjoining to the area of Jammu and Kashmir. However, 18th April, 2019 (Thursday) shall not be a ‘closed day’ in lieu of weekly off falling between 21st April, 2019 and 27th April, 2019 on account of the General Elections to Lok Sabha, 2019 in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
