Sub: Increasing strength of students studying Science subject.

1.0 Please refer to the budget speech during which it was interalia decided that the strength of the students studying Science will be increased during academic session 2018-19.

2.0 As the new academic session 2018-19 has already begun. There is a little scope that the strength of students in Science Stream in class 12th can be increased, there is only possibility to increase the strength of the students studying Science if the number of students is increased in class Xl. As a target it has been decided that the strength of such students be increased by 20%. Punjab School Education Board has already extended the date of admission by 15.07.2018.

3.0 As this is the time of new admission in class 11th, all School Heads and DEOs are hereby requested to increase the number of students studying Science during the next fortnight and motivate as many as number of students as possible to opt for Science stream. As regards availability of lecturers/teachers i.e. Physics, chemistry, Maths and Biology, the Department is doing exercise where teachers can be suitably posted where the number of students are available or science streams are functional.

4.0 All DEOs are also requested to hold meeting with the private schools with their respective districts ad impress upon the private schools also to increase strength of the students in Science streams. A meeting in this regard would thereafter be held around mid of July to review the progress of the new admission in class 11th in Science stream.
