HOUSES TO HOUSELESS SCs IN RURAL AND URBAN AREAS (Distt. Plan)

To provide houses to SC families who are either houseless or having Kacha houses in dilapidated condition, grant for purchase of plot and construction of houses shall be provided by the State Government. As per previous norms, Rs 25,000/- was given for purchases of plot and Rs 20,000/- for construction of houses.

From the years 2008-09, the condition of BPL families for providing grant under this scheme has been waived off. Now, the SC families having maximum upper limit of annual income is one lac shall be covered under this scheme. Keeping in view the present rate of land grant @ Rs 50,000/- to each SC houseless family having maximum upper limit of annual income is one lac shall be given for the construction of new house consisting of one room and one kitchen. However, funds for the construction of toilets shall be provided under “Rural Sanitation Programme.” Besides this, grant @ Rs 20,000/for each beneficiary shall be provided for the conversion of Kacha houses into pacca houses. The norms/conditions for selection of eligible scheduled caste families (beneficiaries) will be as under:-

1. Those families whose maximum upper limit of annual income is one lac and houseless.

2. Families living in Kacha or dilapidated houses, subject to the condition that they have not availed any relief grant for housing under any Govt. scheme earlier.

3. Family should be permanent resident of Punjab State and having own plot.

4. Those families who have plot of their own or they have got plot under the Panchayati land or free or partial free from any other Govt. institution, will be given preference.
