Name of the Scheme:- Post matric scholarship scheme for minority communities
1. Objective of the scheme in brief:
The objective of the scheme is to award scholarship to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections of minority community (Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists,Jains and Parsis) so as to provide them better opportunities for higher education, increase their rate of attainment in higher education and enhance their employ ability.
2. Eligibility criteria/who can apply:
Scholarship is awarded to the students who are studying in Govt, or private schools, colleges, universities etc. and who have secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination. The annual income of the parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2 lacs. The student should be resident of Punjab State and regular in attendance. Scholarship will not be given to more than two students in a family.

6. How to apply/Procedure to submit application:
The implementation of the scheme has been switched over from manual system to “Online Scholarship Management System” (OSMS) from the academic session- 2012-13. Students of all institutions apply online to the concerned institute registered in the website: www.scholarships.gov.in. The scholarship amount of the approved students is transferred electronically in their bank accounts.
