COACHING FOR STENOGRAPHY TO SCHEDULED CASTE CANDIDATES

Introduction

The scheme aims at bringing adequate representations of the members of the scheduled castes in the cadre of Punjabi stenographers and steno typists in Punjab Civil Secretariat and other offices of the state Govt. The persons who are otherwise qualified in the trade are being given special training so that they come up to the required standard.

Year of Start

The scheme has been introduced from the Year 1978-79.

Norms

Under this scheme total number of seats is 230 (15 in each district and 20 seats at Chandigarh). All the applications received from the candidate in the response to advertisement in leading newspapers given in the month of July are scrutinized and selected on merits by the selection committee:

i) Possesses the Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institution
ii) Candidates belonging to scheduled caste community.
iii) Stipend @ Rs. 250/- per month per trainee is given.

This scheme is being implemented in 14 Districts of the State through Language Department.
